Mobility needs and wireless solutions: A methodology approach
Research output: Research › Report – Annual report year: 2003
The main purpose of this report is to spell out a methodological approach to the analysis of user needs with respect to mobility. Furthermore, this methodological approach is used in an exemplary analysis of the relationship between user needs and technology solutions offered by different wireless technologies. The report is based on a research approach, emphasizing important aspects in relation to developing more user oriented mobile services and applications in a heterogeneous network environment. As a staring point, Scandinavian research within the field of social science concerning mobility is described and discussed. Furthermore different wireless technologies are briefly described and discussed in relation to possible transmission capacities and coverage areas. In addition to this, a preliminary framework regarding the implications of mobility on the use and development of mobile services and applications is proposed. The framework is centered on four aspects; geographical, time-related, contextual and organizational aspects and their implications on choice of access technology in relation to developing more user oriented mobile services and applications.
