N2 - Tantalum carbide was evaluated as a possible new support for the IrO2 for use in anodes of polymer electrolyte membrane water electrolysers. A series of supported electrocatalysts varying in mass content of iridium oxide was prepared. XRD, powder conductivity measurements and cyclic and linear sweep voltammetry were used to characterise the electrocatalysts. The most performing composition was found to lie between 50 and 90 wt.% IrO2 on TaC
