In this project, steel structures fabricated from newly developed high-strength steels are studied. These steels have a yield stress of 700-1000 MPa (conventional structural steel: 240-350 MPa), and high weldability and toughness properties. The project concentrates on applications in offshore structures and bridges, and especially on the fatigue properties of structures in these new types of steels. The project is a continuation of a large common Nordic research programme "Fatigue under Spectrum Loading and in Corrosive Environment". The further investigations in this project are planned to take place within an EU-supported programme with participation of about 30 European universities, research institutes etc.
