The aim of the project is to investigate the influence of different environmental parameters on the mechanism of crevice corrosion of stainless steels. The parameters examined include temperature, crevice tightness, surface finish and alloy composition. Testing is done in a cell developed to eliminate the effect of the test specimen edges. The crevice corrosion resistance is compared with the resistance towards pitting corrosion.
