Fast vibrations may smoothen or otherwise change the dynamics of systems with dry friction. The focus is on exploration of basic mechanisms, though, with an eye to possible practical applications (currently a linear motor, and ways to quench selfexcited vibrations, e.g. squeal or chatter)
