Future communication satellite antennas will need to be able to change their radiation characteristics in space to adapt to changes in the volume of traffic carried. For reflector antennas, this can be achieved with a reflector surface which can change shape under control of a limited number of remotely controlled actuators. A mathematical description of such a surface in the form of a 4th order partial differential equation with appropriate boundary values is developed. The project is carried out as part of the work prepared by the scientific staff at IMM. No specified budget. Publication: Niels C.
