The objective of Vijay’s work is to construct and operate integrated microscale reactors for fermentation and biocatalysis in an intensified process using the transaminase system as a case study. The integrated microfactory can be used to quickly and effectively screen different substrate, enzyme concentrations and process conditions. It can be used for screening different biocatalyst and process alternatives for economic feasibility using pre-established metrics.
