Summary

I have been working throughout the last 11 years in the field of microfluidic research and development for life science applications. This included extended activities in the field of design analysis, prototype design, fabrication and test as well as project generation management and team management. Typical areas of applications have been the development of diagnostic devices for drug detection in saliva, cultivation of stem cells, in vitro fertilization and cell-based assays in the field of cancer research. But also large-scale fluidic simulations of high velocity turbulent flow in maritime devices have been part of my work in function as Senior Consultant at the Danish Technological Institute. 

At the Department for Chemical and Biochemical Engineering I am responsible for the microfluidic activities of the PROCESS group. We are currently developing microbioreactors for biotechnological and pharmaceutical processes.

Expertise

Throughout the last 15 years I have been working with research and development in different positions and different fields of applications. I have experienced a broad range of perspectives ranging from a PhD student position to my engagement as CEO in a startup biotech company. I am an open minded team player, who is able to see the broad picture as well as the very specific details. 

Research Area:

Development and investigation of microfluidic systems used in medical, chemical, biochemical and pharmceutical appications. Dynamic simulations with help of computational fluid dynamic (CFD) methods. 

Teaching and Education activities:

Teaching Chemical Reaction Engineering (BScE), Computational Fluid Dynamics in Chemical Engineering (MSc/BSc) and Bioprocess Engineering Principles (MSc/BSc). Program leader for the bachelor of engineering in chemical engineering and biotechnology.

Master thesis and internship at the Institut Français du Petrol (Lyon, France) in catalytic and thermal decomposition of ammonium sulfide
