Dr. Ir. Sune D. Ebbesen is a senior research scientist and work-group leader for the evaluation of Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cells at the Department of Energy Conversion and Storage at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). His research is focused on electrochemical testing and development of solid oxide cells applied for high temperature electrolysis of H2O and/or CO2 for carbon monoxide and hydrogen production as well as synthetic fuel production. Sune D. Ebbesen performed his Doctoral research in heterogeneous catalysis at University of Twente, The Netherlands and received his Doctor's degree in 2007. He is author and co-author of more than 25 scientific articles specifically on high temperature electrolysis in international peer reviewed journals and has two patent applications. He has further published 8 articles on preparation and testing of heterogeneous catalysts.

In 2014 Sune D. Ebbesen join the Editorial Board of Carbon Capture, Storage, and Utilization which is a specialty section of Frontiers in Energy Research. In 2008 Sune D. Ebbesen was appointed the membership of the international expert group under the International Energy Association – Hydrogen Implementation Agreement Task 25: "High Temperature Process for Hydrogen Production".
