Sheila Tuyet Tang

My research is focused on the identification of T cell epitopes for vaccine and diagnostic purposes for bacteria, such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium lepae, and virus such as poxvirus (the causative agents for tuberculosis, leprosy and smallpox). Bioinformatics tools with emphasis on immunoinformatics have been used to scan pathogenic (pathogens are infectious virus or bacteria that cause diseases) genomes for potential cytotoxic T-cell (CTL) epitopes. A selected number of these predictions are experimentally being validated using immunological assays.
