Robin Sharp har mange års erfaring med specifikation, design og udvikling af distribuerede systemer, i de senere år med særlig fokus på IT-sikkerhed. Hans særlige interesser er systematisk design af IT-systemer, der skal opfylde bestemte sikkerhedsmæssige krav, og analyse af tidsmæssige egenskaber med relation til sikkerhed, såsom tilgængelighed. Robin Sharp er for tiden leder af projektet CIT-AWARE, der udvikler metoder til at undersøge menneskers forståelse af sikkerhedsbegreber og til at øge deres bevidsthed om IT-sikkerhed.
Robin Sharp har en Ph.D. fra Cambridge universitet i England, og efter post doc stillinger i England og Danmark blev ansat på DTU i 1972, siden 1989 som docent. Han er et medlem af sektionen for System Security ved Informatik og Matematisk Modellering (IMM), hvor han underviser i datanet, distribuerede systemer og netværkssikkerhed. Han har været vejleder for en lang række eksamensprojekt- og Ph.D.-studerende.
Robin Sharp er forfatter eller medforfatter til mere end 40 videnskabelige artikler inden for sit nuværende fagområde og forfatter eller redaktør til 3 bøger. I 2006 vandt han SUMO-prisen for en formelt beskrevet ontologi for de såkaldte "Common Criteria for IT Security Evaluation".

Expertise

Robin Sharp has worked in the area of distributed systems and computer security for more than thirty years and is the author of more than 40 papers in this area.  He is the author of the book "Principles of Protocol Design", of which a new edition was published by Springer in 2008.

His current major research projects involve security in Grid computing (in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen, Aalborg University and the University of Southern Denmark), security awareness (in collaboration with the University of Aarhus School of Education and DK-CERT), and methods for systematic design of secure systems based on the use of the Common Criteria.
