I work as a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Biological sequence analysis (CBS) at Biocentrum-DTU, in the research group of Per Klemm. Our main research areas are medical microbiology, bacterial adhesion/adherence and biofilm formation.Specifically, I study various different molecular aspects of bacterial adhesion/adherence and virulence, particularly in relation to E.coli, urinary tract - and intestinal diseases.  The main goal of my research is to understand the mechanisms which allow bacteria to colonize both biotic and abiotic surfaces and to develop surface-bound bacterial communities (biofilms). We also study/explore various means of inhibiting or blocking bacterial adhesion/biofilm formation of medically relevant materials such as silicone urinary catheters.  My work involves a range of techniques, including various molecular biology methods, genomics and various types of microscopy.
