The response from monopile support for offshore wind turbines is current the main research objective of Rasmus T. Klinkvort. Centrifuge and numerical modelling are used in the development of new engineering tools for monopile foundations.  The centrifuge research is focused on two parts: 1. Localisation of scale effects and how to transform centrifuge results to prototype dimensions in connection to monopiles.  2. Investigation of the cyclic laterally response of wind turbine monopile foundation in saturated sand.  These observation is used in the development of an engineering tool which can predict key design parameters as e.g. accumulation of rotations, change in stiffness and damping in the soil.
