Paul Pop is has joined the Informatics and Mathematical Modelling Dept., Technical University of Denmark as an associate professor in May 2007. Previously, he was an assistant professor at Linköping University, Sweden, where he has received his Ph.D. in Computer Systems in 2003. His research is about embedded systems, which are special-purpose computer systems dedicated to perform one or a few functions. In contrast, a general purpose system, such as a personal computer, can do many different tasks. An embedded system is part of a host system which it controls. Since an embedded system is dedicated to specific tasks, design engineers can optimize it, reducing the size and cost of the product, or increasing the reliability and performance. Paul’s research is focused on developing methods and techniques for the analysis and optimization of embedded systems. In this area, he has published 10 journal papers, 6 book chapters, one book and 27 conference papers. Also, he and has received the best paper award at the Design, Automation and Test in Europe Conference (DATE 2005) and at the Real-Time in Sweden Conference (RTiS 2007). He was nominated for the best paper award at the Design Automation Conference (DAC 2001) and his research has been highlighted as “The Most Influential Papers of 10 Years DATE”.
