Luca Sapienza


Luca Sapienza graduated from the University of Padova (Italy) in 2004, with a M.Sc. thesis entitled "Optical properties of semiconductor quantum dots in a magnetic field" carried out at the Ecole Normale Superieure de Paris (France) and awarded by the Fondazione Ing. Aldo Gini Prize "Premio di Eccellenza".
During his undergraduate studies he was summer student at Trinity College Dublin (Ireland) working on a project on photoluminescence of GaN nanoparticles and at the University of Jyvaskyla (Finland) working on spontaneous magnetism of quantum dot lattices. He was an Erasmus student at the Universite Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris 6 (France).

In 2007, he received his Ph.D. from the Universite Paris Diderot (France), defending a thesis entitled "Electrically driven semiconductor devices operating in the light-matter strong coupling regime".

In 2008, he held the position of Post Doctoral Researcher at University College Dublin (Ireland) working on spin-plasmonics and, since 2009, he is a Post Doctoral Researcher at the Technical University of Denmark, working on cavity quantum electrodynamics with semiconductor quantum dots.
