I do research and scientific based advising on environmental and food processing contaminants.

Since 2004 research and development of methods for detection of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) in foods has been the main focus area. This work includes fat extraction, clean-up and mass spectrometric detection of PAH. Actual research projects has concentrated on smoking process pa-rameters effect on the PAH concentration of trout.

Scientific based advising to national as well as international authorities includes project leading of surveillance projects and advising the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration on PAH in foods.

Member of the expert group for Task 3.2.12 collection of data for Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds (PAH) in Foods in the scientific cooperation (SCOOP) in the European Union (2001-2004).

Member of the working group on oil spill, a Nordic Ministers Council project with 1 to 3 participants from each of the Nordic Countries (2002-2004).

Project leading of surveillance projects at the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration on synthetic musk compounds in trout (2002-2005).

Project leader on “Smoking of Trout – The Influence of Process Parameters on Product Quality” Funded by Directorate for Food, Fisheries and Agricultural Business. A multidisciplinary co-operation between DTU-Food, DTU-Aqua the Danish fish industry associations (2006-2008).

Appointed as a censor at the engineering education in Chemistry in Denmark (2008-2010).

Part of the network of reference laboratories for PAH in foods in EU.

Member of the board of Directors for the International Society of Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds (ISPAC) organizing a biannual conference on PAC (2008-2011).

Referee on articles on PAH in the journal Food Additives and Contaminants.

Member of the editorial board of the journal of Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds.
