Laura is going to model the occurrence and fate of micropollutants in a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) by extending the Benchmark Simulation Model no. 2 (BSM2) with models that predict the fate of micropollutants. The BSM2 is also going to be extended with processes involving greenhouse gas emissions in order to calculate the footprint of the wastewater treatment. After validation of the extended BSM2 different control strategies will be tested according to evaluation tools in order to optimize the performance of the WWTP.
