Brief description of research area
Systems engineering uses modeling, information technology and process knowledge to conceive, design and operate sustainable, cost efficient and environmental friendly processes for manufacturing novel chemical and biochemical products essential to maintain high  quality and modern lifestyle of mankind. Systems engineering discipline researches and develops systematic methods and tools that provides a common platform to bring together  and integrate multidisciplinary knowledge to  facilitate development of innovative products  and intelligent processes to manufacture them.
The research, in general, focus on development of systematic methods and tools for understanding, design, operation and control (bio)chemical processes and aims at providing rationale basis for better informed decision-making in engineering applications to achieve energy efficient and sustainable chemical & biochemical industry. Current research aims at moving the current design paradigm to predictive and probabilistic-based approaches. To this end, research is carried looking at process design/analysis under uncertainty, process control under uncertainty, process safety and risk assessment among others.
