Jeg arbejder med afsmitning af kemiske stoffer fra fødevarekontaktmaterialer og bidrager til risikovurdering af disse. Fødevarer bringes i kontakt med mange forskellige materialetyper fra produktionsprocessen i fødevareindustrien, i forbindelse med indpakning og ved tilberedning og anvendelse hos forbrugerne.

Plast er det mest anvendte materiale men også mange andre materialer såsom pap, papir, gummi, silikone, overfladebehandlingsmidler, lime og trykfarver osv. anvendes i kontakt med fødevarer. Materialerne fremstilles ud fra hundredvis af forskellige kemiske stoffer, og der er risiko for at disse afgives til fødevarerne under anvendelsen ved forskellige temperaturer og tider.

Jeg undersøger og rådgiver om afsmitning af kemiske stoffer fra fødevarekontaktmaterialer. Resultaterne danner baggrund for, dels at vurdere befolkningens indtag af de pågældende stoffer, herunder risikovurdering, og dels om eventuelt gældende grænseværdier for de enkelte stoffer er overholdt.

Expertise

I perform scientific advice and research within food safety related to migration of chemical substances from food contact materials (FCM). The work focus on evaluation of migrating substances from different materials with the aim to assess the human exposure of these chemials as part of the risk assessment. 

The work includes:

Running of national projects on chemical food safety of food contact materials in cooperation with the National Food Administration and with the Danish EPA

Given scientific scietific advice within risk assessment and chemical food safety of food contact materials to national bodies and industry 

Traning of university students and in EU BTSF programmes

Membership of EFSA Scientific Network on food contact materials (FIP)
