Dmitry Turchinovich studied physics and electrical engineering at St.Petersburg State Electrotechnical University and Ioffe Institute, where he obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Engineering and Technology in 1997 and 1999, respectively.

After graduation from the University, he received the Gottlieb Daimler- und Karl Benz – Stiftung scholarship to fund his stay at the Institute of High Frequency Engineering, Technical University of Braunschweig in 1999-2001.

Since 2001 Dmitry Turchinovich worked on his doctoral project at the Department of Molecular and Optical Physics, University of Freiburg, where he obtained his Ph.D. (Dr. rer. nat.) degree in 2004.

In 2005-2006 he worked as a post-doc at Debye Institute, Utrecht University.

Since 2006 Dmitry Turchinovich is working at DTU Fotonik - Department of Photonics Engineering, Technical University of Denmark.

Since 2012, in parallel to his DTU affiliation, Dmitry is leading a research group on Ultrafast dynamics and Terahertz spectroscopy at  Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, Germany.

The research interests of Dmitry Turchinovich include: ultrafast and terahertz dynamics in semiconductors, femtoacoustics, ultrafast nonlinear optics and all-optical signal processing, mode-locked fiber lasers, photonic crystal fibers, and supercontinuum.
