I head the Division of Toxicology and Risk Assessment at the National Food Institute, DTU.

The Division of Toxicology and Risk Assessment works on promoting health and preventing illness by performing research, teaching and advising authorities on human effects of chemical substances and naturally occurring compounds in our food and environment. The Division employs approximately 75 employees and offers an inspiring working environment.

The research covers many areas from reproductive toxicology, endocrine disruption, cancer, nanotoxicology, risk-benefit, food allergy and QSAR. The researchers use human samples, animal models as well as cellular and computer models in order to predict the effects of chemicals in humans.

I chair the board of the National 3R-Center appointed by the Minster of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries from 2013. The National 3R-Center disseminates knowledge and initiates research within the 3R´s (replacement, refinement and reduction of animals in testing).

I chair the research evaluation panel “Environmental Pollutants” (approximately 78 mill Swedish kr) under the Swedish research council, FORMAS, from 2014. Member of this panel from 2013.

I am member of the advisory group for the use of pesticides and biocides under the Danish EPA since 2010 and member of the advising scientific committee for Health and Environment under the Danish National Board of Health since 2008. Research funding is granted in both the Danish 3R-Center (1.5mill/year) and the Advisory Group for Pesticides and Biocides (approximately 20 mill/year) under the Danish EPA.
