Arne Wangel is Associate Professor at DTU Management Engineering. He has years of experience in planning and evaluation methodologies for international technology and knowledge transfers and in particular for capacity development in environment in Asian countries. He has served as a consultant to the Danish Development Agency (DANIDA), and as a coordinator in twinning projects with universities in Malaysia. He has done research on inter-cultural management and models of management-labour relations. His recent research concerns how to strategize support to capacity development with companies and institutions in developing countries with regard to the adoption of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tools. As as a sociologist, he has a particular focus on assessment of social impacts in the life cycle of products and services, as practised in Social LCA, Global Value Chain analysis, and in innovation for Shared Value driven by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

International experience

Extensive field experience in factory studies in Malaysia, in particular on the organisation of occupational health and safety activities, skills development, and the promotion of cleaner technologies in Malaysian industry, including research on local practices in the application of ILO standards and ISO certification. Extensive project management experience conducting own research projects, EU-Asia Link projects, and as a consultant to DANIDA funded projects, several times as the team-leader. Extensive experience in twinning, international knowledge networking and inter-cultural learning - most importantly as the Malaysia Coordinator for Danish University Consortium for Environment and Development, Industry & Urban Areas (DUCED I&UA) 1998-2005.
