Alexis Laurent is Associate Professor in Quantitative Assessment and Interpretation of Environmental Sustainability, with a focus on methodological development and application of life cycle assessment (LCA) and on development of life-cycle-based methods and solutions for quantifying environmental sustainability of large systems such as countries. Main research areas/interests are:

- Development and application of life cycle impact assessment methods, including normalisation aspects

- Environmental sustainability assessment of large-scale systems, e.g. world, nations, sectors and cities

- Footprinting of products and systems

- Application of LCA to various domains/sectors, including energy technologies and systems, waste management systems, nanotechnologies, etc.
