In the first part of this presentation we will discuss ultrafast THz experiments on semiconductor nanostructures. Effects such as dynamical screening and restoration of strong piezoelectric fields in InGan/GaN quantum wells, and trapping and release of carriers in InAs/GaAs quantum dots will be considered. In the second part, we will discuss femtosecond fiber lasers using fiber Bragg gratings and photonic crystal fibers for stabilization and dispersion control.
